Sneaking in

I am going to sneak in a photo of this finished quilt. My Little Tailfeather quilt!! designed by Cinderberry Stitches, fabrics chosen by me. Quilted by my Mum.

So fresh... I love stitchery. I can just pick it up and go!

Nearly finished another one!!

I've sewn the binding on my Little Tailfeather quilt ready for hand-stitching.

Mum has custom-quilted it so beautifully. I couldn't be happier. I will show you in more detail after I sew the binding down... Ooh! nearly another finish!!

Almost there...

The Little Tailfeather quilt just needs a green border before it goes to Mum to be quilted.

I decided not to stay up overly late the other night... I was already too tired.

After all it only means that I get it back one week later... and what's a week in the scheme of things?

I am just so inspired all the time!! I want to start so many new projects!

First, I want to put the binding on my dollhouse quilt, and finish the little Santa piece for the Countdown to Christmas. I am actually writing this post a couple of days before it is published, so I will have the countdown finished for the 1st of December when I put my decorations up at home. YAY!!

Fruits of labour

These blocks are now fully grown and ripefor piecing - ready to add as the border to the Little Tailfeather quilt centre.These fabrics look so juicy!! No wonder I like these so much - these are the colours of my blog. Look at the font and surrounds. LOL!!

I hope to get the border added and the quilt top finished tonight and give it to Mum for quilting tomorrow. YAY!! I want to sneak a couple more finishes to my 2009 finished list before the end of the year...

Only half grown

These little blocks are going to be the border around the centre of the Little Tailfeather quilt.

There are 24 blocks, but these are only half grown. They all need another round of log cabin before they are "ripe".

Well... they do look good enough to eat!! The colours remind me of Summer fruit (I have been eating peaches and nectarines... yum!!).

Centrefold

This is the centre of the Little Tailfeather quilt.


I still need to add the borders made of log cabin blocks with little birds in each corner.

Even though I didn't piece each square individually (I used strip piecing), there were a heck of a lot of seams to match!! I pin each seam join with 3 pins, so it took all day to get the blocks together with all the little squares.

And onto the borders! Yeeha!

The Bride is calling....

I got to one evening where I had done all I had prepared and ready for the Little Tailfeather quilt. So, I got to work on my Civil War Bride quilt block!

Here is block 7 finished (except for embroidered head feathers, feet, beak and fruit stems). This was such an easy block in comparison to some of the others!!

I also had time to trace block 2. I selected all the fabrics, traced the shapes onto freezer paper and I have made and applied the stems. I just need to stitch them.

However, I have since prepared 4 little tailfeather applique and stitcheries, so I had better work them off before I start on the next Bride block.

More little tailfeather blocks

Here are a few more blocks. I just have the centre block to go, then I have to make lots of chequerboards and log cabins. I am waiting on 4 more pink fabrics to arrive, so I will have to wait before I make all the borders.

All will soon be revealed. Can you wait that long?

Shaking my tailfeathers...

I am following the old suggestion to "get your rear into gear" and I have been shaking my tailfeathers all over the place to piece these blocks together. I appliqued the birds and completed their little stitchery details.

Most of the other stitcheries were done, just waiting for this new range of fabric to be released.

I chose these fabrics to co-ordinate with the variegated DMC thread exactly.

I think they are looking pretty and fresh.

I just love birds in quilts!!

A little break from needleturn

Unfortunately, I need to take a little break from the Civil War Bride quilt. I don't want to lose momentum, but I have a deadline to meet.

This is part of a block from the Little Tailfeather block of the month. I am using fabric from the Mill House Inn range by moda.

I have made most of the 9 centre blocks - they are all variations on this block.

Next I need to finish the centre block, then log cabin borders. The fabric is so pretty. I am enjoying working on this quilt. I would like to finish the quilt top within the next 2 weeks.

Let's see how I go, then I can "catch up" on the Civil War Bride blocks - my goal for them was one block per week. I probably won't work on them for a few days more, but I think I can catch up.. I think I can... I think I can...
